Drive a road safety culture across your entire business
An effective and up to date road safety management system minimises driver risk and mitigates convictions, fines and reputational damage in your business. It can also reduce fleet costs.
Wherever you are in your driver risk management journey, our accredited consultancy services can help.
With a TTC survey, you get a ‘health check’ on your current risks, how well they are being managed and practical recommendations for improvements.
First, our panel of professional road safety experts will look at every aspect of your driver fleet using the data-insight of our Continuum platform.
Then, we will examine how effective your current policies are and provide a prioritised action plan covering everything from strategy to safe working practices, to help reduce potential risk, collision rates and fleet costs.
TTC is one of the few UK organisations accredited to the international road traffic safety (RTS) management system standard ISO 39001 and our expert consultants are among the best in the business. So, you’re in safe hands whether you need a policy refresh, a post-incident review or are building a RTS management system from scratch.
We also provide a range of additional driver risk and compliance services to enhance your RTS management system. These include digital licence checking, drug and alcohol screening, Permit to Drive and a range of CPC and other expert training.

Your fleet consultancy questions answered
What is the law around road traffic safety management for companies?
Under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, all employers have a ‘duty of care’ towards their employees at work as well as other people who may be affected by their business activities. In the case of driving, this potentially includes all road users. In addition, the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 requires employers to carry out risk assessments. They must also make arrangements to implement necessary measures, appoint competent people and arrange appropriate information and training.
Why should I survey my company’s fleet risk?
All businesses employing staff who drive on company business, whether driving a company vehicle or grey fleet (the employee’s private vehicle), have a legal obligation to keep their employees and other road users safe. Assessing risks and taking steps to reduce and manage those risks as much as is reasonably practicable is a key principle in the legislation.
TTC’s Fleet Risk Management Survey can help any business establish a driver risk management programme from scratch or review its existing policies, processes and working practices and make recommendations. Our surveys provide a detailed performance report of work-related road safety, fully aligned to our ISO:39001 Road Traffic Safety Management System.
What does the audit report contain?
The outcome of each survey will provide a current view and risk rating for the business in the event of a serious road collision, and what mitigation can be deployed to reduce risk and improve driver safety.
The survey report will include gap analyses, practical recommendations and further discussion where necessary. We use a straightforward red, amber, green priority actions rating to help senior leadership within your business rapidly drive improvements to risk management and compliance.
We can also advise you on the most appropriate solutions on an ongoing consultancy basis. This would give you access to consultancy services within the TTC Group or one of our trusted partners or any other service provider.
What is the survey process?
The survey takes approximately 3 hours to complete and can be carried out at your premises or online.
TTC surveyors will work closely with key members of staff, including drivers themselves where possible, to get a complete picture of driver and vehicle risk management in your business.
We’ll examine how your company’s drivers are managed, your policies and procedures, and more importantly how these policies are put into day-to-day practice.
This will involve running through a series of structured questions and dialogue on how the fleet of vehicles and drivers are managed, what policies and procedures are in place and more importantly, implemented, managed and maintained. The survey will culminate in a detailed report for consideration and further discussion where necessary and using a red, amber, green priority actions rating.
