Licence Bureau’s education of 2,000 sixth formers in Hertfordshire on crucial road safety messages has been recognised by road safety charity Brake.

It has run its interactive road safety workshop sessions for the past five years during Road Safety Week targeting sixth-form students with key safety messages – either when travelling in a vehicle or as a cyclist/pedestrian – to ensure they adopt a positive attitude towards road safety at an early age.

These workshops have been shortlisted for the Road Safety in the Community award sponsored by Ocado at this year’s Brake Fleet Safety awards which are being held on 28 September at the Birmingham Metropole.

Licence Bureau is also sponsoring the Road Risk Manager of the Year award.

“Our job is to help and support companies to ensure they are 100% compliant when their drivers and vehicles get driven on company business,” explained Malcolm Maycock, managing director of Licence Bureau.

“To extend this expertise and take road safety to sixth formers who are just about to learn to drive, or who have just passed their test is an extremely rewarding experience. We wish the companies shortlisted in the Brake awards well,” he added.

Janis Wright, PSHE & Wellbeing Administrator at Kings Langley Secondary School, said: “We are very fortunate to have these annual workshops for our sixth-form students. They have been a good way for students to develop an understanding of overall road safety and how they can remain safe, behind the wheel or as a vulnerable road user.”
