Drink Drive Rehabilitation court awareness webinar
News Article | October 2022

TTC Group delivers new Drink Drive webinar to UK courts to raise awareness of the Drink Drive Rehabilitation Scheme.
The webinar is delivered to Court Ushers, recognising the valuable role they play in connecting defendants with the relevant rehabilitation scheme prehearing.
Spearheaded by Sarah Daykin (pictured), Consultant Trainer & Product and Services Liaison Officer for TTC Group, the webinar is designed to develop court staff's understanding of how the Drink Drive Rehabilitation Scheme (DDRS) operates, as well as the support available to those convicted of Drink Driving offences.
Sarah commented:
"Sadly 85,000 people in England and Wales are convicted for Drink Driving offences each year, and without the support of a Drink Drive course, are three times more likely to reoffend.
By raising awareness of the Drink Drive Rehabilitation Scheme in our courts, we hope that more offenders are referred by the court to complete a Drink Drive course and help to break the cycle of reoffending."
The innovative webinar also includes concise topics from the actual DDRS course, such as:
- Units of alcohol calculation
- The process of absorption and elimination
- How it long it takes for alcohol to be removed from the blood
- Short and long terms effects of alcohol on the body, including a video showing healthy and unhealthy livers.
Several courts have already taken part, with the latest webinars being delivered for the Northeast of England Magistrates Court by Sarah Daykin and David Barrell, Consultant National Manager (Police & Court Referred Offender Education).
I would like to thank Dave and Sarah from TTC who recently presented an on-line Webinar on the Drink Drive Course to a selection of my Usher Team. The material was informative and has given the Ushers a good understanding of some of the core subjects and the booking process. We felt it was a valuable exercise, and I would recommend it to other Usher Teams around the Country.
