What’s Driving Us? course (WDU)
Encouraging attentive and careful drivers
The What’s Driving Us? (WDU) course helps people who have been found driving without consideration for the safety of other road users to see their actions in a new way.
It offers an alternative to prosecution for things like failing to comply with traffic directions, neglecting pedestrian rights, not being in proper control of a vehicle or inadequate supervision a learner driver.
Our expert trainers use a range of perceptive and engaging modules to help drivers and riders understand what’s influencing their motoring style and change it for the better to avoid the unthinkable.
The WDU course is part of the National Driver Offender Retraining Scheme (NDORS) which is licensed by UKROEd. It is a behavioural change course for people who have been found driving without consideration for the safety of other road users, and who have been diverted from court by the police using a Conditional Offer Fixed Penalty Notice (COFPN).

Course information
This course is only for people who have been referred by the police to attend a What’s Driving Us? course. It is only offered to drivers and riders who have not taken a What’s Driving Us? course, a Safe and Considerate Driving course or a NRRAC course in the three years prior to their most recent offence.
Can I change my course booking?
Providing there is sufficient time within the deadline given by the police, you can change your course once you have booked. There may be a rearrangement fee for changing your course, which is outlined in our course terms and conditions . Amend your booking using the same UKROEd portal as you used to book your original course.
Deciding whether to do an online or a classroom course
Choose a course that best suits your own needs, classroom or online. You will be able to see all the available locations, dates and times once you start the booking process and select TTC as your provider. Check our resources for handy guides to our online and classroom formats.
Original photo ID
You must also show a photo ID in order to attend the course. This must be an original physical document like a passport or a driving licence. This is so that the trainer can register your attendance properly.
If you do not have photo ID, please speak to the police force who referred you to the course, prior to your course date.

Bringing an interpreter
The course is only available in English and Welsh languages. If you think your English language skills might restrict your ability to complete the course, or affect your experience, we recommend you make arrangements for an interpreter to help you. Although it is your responsibility to do this, we will need to know who this person is as they will also need to provide ID. They need to be at least 16 years old. The format of the What’s Driving Us? course
The course is a relaxed and informative interactive workshop facilitated by a licensed NDORS (National Driver Offender Retraining Scheme) trainer. There is no police involvement. There’s no driving involved, and you won’t take a test which you can pass or fail. We only ask that you engage fully with the course content and stay until the end. As it is theory-only, you can opt to do the course conveniently online via your own compatible device such as a computer or tablet, or in-person in a classroom.
How to book a What’s Driving Us? course
Booking is easy. Simply press the Book now button anywhere on this page and it will take you to the UKROEd website where you can type in the reference and PIN number from your police referral letter and, when prompted, select TTC as your provider.
Then choose whether you’d like an online or class-based course and browse available course dates, times and locations. Don’t forget to tell us if you think you’ll need extra support like an interpreter.
Once you have booked and paid, you’ll get a confirmation email from us with all the details you need about joining your course.
How long is a What’s Driving Us? course?
The course lasts 3 hours and starts promptly. You need to be settled and ready to start at the course at the time stated on your joining instructions. If you are attending an in-person course, planning your route to the venue is essential. You will not be allowed entry if you are late. A short comfort break is included within the course.
Maximum number of attendees
We allow up to 24 participants in our classroom courses. We allow up to nine people in our online courses.
Payment options
We offer a range of course payment options to best meet your needs, including scheduled payments. We accept payments by all major debit and credit cards, cheques, postal orders, banker’s drafts, cash, BACS transfer and mobile banking apps.
Arriving at your course
It is vital to be at your course on time so that the trainer has time to introduce themselves, check your ID and register your attendance.
Locations, dates & times
We offer a comprehensive choice of course dates, locations and start times, including evenings and weekends. This gives you the best opportunity of completing your course within the date limit set by your referring police force.
Areas covered
You can book an online course with TTC from anywhere in the UK. Classroom courses are available in the following police force areas: Avon & Somerset, Cumbria, Devon & Cornwall, Gwent, North Wales, North Yorkshire, Northamptonshire, South Wales, South Yorkshire, West Mercia, West Midlands, West Yorkshire & Wiltshire.
Getting online
Your course will be delivered online via the Zoom platform. We’ll send your joining instructions by email/SMS within 24 hours of the course starting. This will include the meeting link along with the unique meeting ID and password.
