Workshop Overview
Essential course for foreign nationals who have limited experience or are new to driving in the UK.
Uses theory and on-road coaching and is tailored to the driver’s individual needs.
Overcomes barriers and fears about driving in the UK and reducing the risk of a collision during a potentially high-risk period of adaptation.
Driver experiences local roads to their place of work or residence.
Delivery Formats

3.5 or 7 hours*
1 or 2 drivers
*Drivers with limited experience are recommended to take the 7 hour course and recommended not to drive until after training.

At the end of the workshop, drivers will:

Vehicle familiarisation.

Initial assessment drive.

Speed limits on all road types.

Appropriate speed and consequences of offending.

Motorway network rules and signs.

Toll roads / London congestion charges.

Dealing with traffic lights and junctions.

Dealing with roundabouts.
Workshop Outline
Introduction
- The 7 hour course involves a theory session to cover off essential Highway Code knowledge.
- Both 7 and 3.5 hour courses will identify the delegate’s personal requirements, typical journeys expected and their current experience driving at home or in UK.
Driving in the UK
- Key legal requirements to drive, the law and the Highway Code.
- Journey times, routes and weather conditions.

Logistics
It is recommended that the delegates complete their training before receiving their vehicle.
Our 7 hour course is facilitated both in a classroom and in-vehicle.
Classroom
In order to facilitate the classroom element of this course we will require
- A suitable room to comfortably seat all attending.
In vehicle
For in-vehicle training we will require:
- Drivers to be able to read a number plate from 20 metres in good day light with or without corrective vision.
- Drivers to produce their domestic driving licence or International Drivers Permit.
- Drivers have a reasonable command of English.
- Vehicle meets all Road Traffic Act requirements.
