Taxi Driving Assessment

About the Assessment

It is suitable for new applicants, renewals, council referrals, and wheelchair-accessible assessments.

It includes:

  • Pre-checks (licence, eyesight, vehicle suitability).
  • A 45–60 minute on-road drive assessing observation, positioning, hazard awareness, and passenger comfort.
  • Manoeuvres and safe pick-up/drop-off positioning.
  • Verbal and written feedback with a pass/fail outcome.

Preparation should focus on smooth driving, forward planning, strong observation, passenger comfort, and vehicle readiness.

Duration: 2.5 Hours

Format: On-road training

Pass criteria:

  • Maximum 14 minor faults
  • No serious faults

Vehicle requirements:
Roadworthy, insured, MOT compliant, clean, no warning lights, and suitable for passengers.
