Workshop Overview
Slow Manoeuvring & reversing is an essential course for drivers, especially in vans or other large vehicles where frequent reversing damage costs businesses thousands of pounds a year in repairs and insurance premiums.
This course involves a combination of some theory content to set the scene and importance of the session followed by practical real life manoeuvres, as you would if you are making home deliveries.

Course Outline
Workshop Session
- How to Improve knowledge and options to consider before reversing to include:
- Consideration to not reversing
- Distance to reverse
- Local environmental factors
- Visibility of self to other road users
- Actions to take when engaged with other road users
- Options to reduce risk when reversing
On Road Coaching sessions:
- Up to 10+ real life manoeuvres explained and practised to include:
- Left and right reverse around corners
- Bay parking (forward and reverse in/out)
- Turn in road
- Yard specific hazards (where applicable)
- Pull up and reverse
At the end of the course driver’s will be able to:
- Demonstrate the principles of vehicle reversing safely
- Familiarise themselves with reversing in and around their operating parameters
- Demonstrate how to deal safely and effectively with other road users

Logistics
Our delivery is facilitated both in classroom and in vehicle.
Facilitation
To facilitate the classroom element of this course we will require:
- A suitable room to comfortably seat all attending
- Flipchart and pens
- Suitable toilet facilities
- Refreshments
Participants
For the on-road session of the course participants will need to:
- Be able to read a number plate from 20 metres in good day light with or without corrective vision.
- Our trainer will undertake this test.
- Training will not proceed without passing this requirement.
The participant will also be required to present a vehicle that is appropriately clean and roadworthy, which is defined as:
- All tyres have at least 1.6mm tread and correct air pressure
- All lights and warning instruments are in good working order
- All fluid levels at the appropriate levels e.g. oil & washer fluid
- Meet all Road Traffic Act requirements
