Workshop Outline
Introduction
- Course objectives and current delegate experience.
- Check of driving licence and eyesight.
- Roles and responsibility of an in-house driver assessor.
Day 1: Workshop and on road training and safe driving practices
- Roles and responsibility of an in-house driver assessor.
- Be a ‘role model’ and ‘safe driving ambassador’.
- Promote safe driving policies/practices to colleagues.
- Difference between assessor and driving instructor and the law around driving instruction for payment.
- TTC assessment form and assessment criteria.
- Driving theory content.
- Initial assessment drive focused on high-level areas for improvement.
- Demonstrate safe driving practices to a high standard, good observation, hazard perception, speed control and safety margins.
- Know and identify good driving practice based on advanced driving, techniques and hazard perception.
- Demonstrate safe and accurate parking and manoeuvring.
Day 2: Conducting assessments
- Main causes of risk and collision
- Conducting eyesight checks
- Route selection.
- Role play undertaking assessments with trainer.
- Identifying high risk driving practices and why it is high risk.
- Demonstrate how to give constructive feedback.
Course Review
- What assessors are taking away.
- Complete and discuss the training report.
- Revisit ‘what do you want to get out of the course’.
- Advice for ongoing development.

Logistics
Our delivery is facilitated both in a classroom and in-vehicle.
Classroom
In order to facilitate the classroom element of this course we will require
- A suitable room to comfortably seat all attending.
- A suitable vehicle with enough seats for up to 3 people.
- A roadworthy and legal vehicle.
- Participants to read a number plate from 20 metres.
- Participants to show their driving licence.
- Our trainer to be insured to drive the vehicle during assessment role play sessions.
We will provide each participant with TTC assessment forms and guidance notes to use, and we will provide clients with pdf soft copies of assessment forms for future use.
