A hit and run driver who killed an 83-year-old man in Watford town centre was jailed for three years and nine months today (Tuesday 28th Jan 2014).

The drivers eyesight was so bad that he should not have been behind the wheel when he struck the victim from Harrow, in December 2012.

The driver had failed an eyesight test in October 2011 and had been told by the DVLA that his licence was revoked.

Mike Reed Marketing Director at Licence Bureau comments, “Yet again another death sadly highlights the need to ensure you and your drivers undertake regular eyesight tests, then act sensibly and appropriately on the outcome. I hope our on-going partnership work with Specsavers to some extent is helping to improve this state of affairs, raise awareness and get more drivers to take regular eyesight tests.”
