TTC Group is helping to roll out the red carpet for the annual Oscars road safety awards for South Yorkshire school children.
Road safety savvy pupils will be rewarded for their work at a glitzy ceremony at Sheffield City Hall on April 5 at its annual Road Safety Oscars, organised by the South Yorkshire Safer Roads Partnership and sponsored by TTC.
The Chuckle Brothers at last year’s awards ceremony
Pupils were challenged to develop a project to deliver key road safety messages to their peers in school. This year’s entries include drama pieces, animations and dance, all communicating important safety themes for teens.
Masters of ceremonies for the event will be the Chuckle Brothers, who will announce the winners of the awards in a number of different categories. There will also be special guest appearances from other surprise performers.
Safer Roads Education Manager Joanne Wehrle said: “The event is an excellent opportunity to recognise young people for their work in promoting road safety messages to their peers.
“Their hard work in developing these exciting and innovative ideas for delivering the road safety messages helps to ensure many more young people are reached than we would otherwise have been able to achieve.
"It was important to remind young people about road safety to prevent them from becoming victims of road traffic collisions as 10 to 14-year-olds are more likely to be injured as pedestrians, added Joanne.
TTC said: “We are pleased to support this event. It is wonderful to support the young people and educate them about the right decision and attitudes which is the single biggest factor in keeping them safe.”
Much of TTC’s work involved correcting the attitudes of experienced drivers, he added.
