This course is designed for anybody who drives a 3.5t tipper or dropside vehicle as part of their day to day work, moving aggregate or carrying loads on the highway or off-road construction sites.

Such occasions would place the use of the vehicle in the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER).

The course is facilitated by a professional and highly experienced trainer.

The training delivery is very much ‘hands-on’ with practical exercises covering both on road driver training and vocational use of the tipper or dropside vehicle.  All finished with a knowledge and competency based assessment.

Participant benefits

Demonstrate pre-journey safety checks, controlled manoeuvring with and without a marshal and identify key hazards

Explain the max pay load for their vehicle and how to calculate weights, including all passengers and driver

Undertake a dynamic risk assessment when dropping loads as well as explain what can go wrong and how to mitigate risk.

Demonstrate how to load correctly and how to restrain loads with ratchet straps and use the tipper controls
