Why should my drivers attend TTC's Driver First Aid DCPC course?

This interactive workshop is delivered by an accredited and approved First Aid trainer and meets the HSE requirements of an Emergency First Aid at Work course.

Drivers will gain a thorough understanding of the role of the first aider and be fully trained in incident and casualty management in the event of an emergency on the road.

At the end of this programme, drivers will be able to record and report incidents, administer CPR and emergency first aid and use available equipment.

This CPC course is JAUPT approved for all professional drivers undertaking 35 hours of periodic training.

Assess the scene and casualty and act safely, minimising the risk of infection to self and others​.

Course outline

Code of practice
Explore relevant law and regulations, aims of first aid in the workplace and the responsibilities of the first aider. 

Incident & casualty management
Effectively deal with an incident from making the scene safe, knowing what needs reporting (RIDDOR) and conducting primary and secondary surveys.

Treatment
Putting the casualty in the recovery position, CPR, clearing up after an incident, respiratory and circulatory systems, cross-infection and treating wounds.

Work-related incidents
Explore the types of medical and health conditions the driver may experience, effects of alcohol and drugs at work, COSHH, substances and control measures.
